A meeting was convened on 26th March 2018 where the Cabinet finalized its <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=1Y52yacWkHf1ji21GT1IYqDDJIO9psGFR\" data-href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=1Y52yacWkHf1ji21GT1IYqDDJIO9psGFR\" target=\"_blank\">Budget Proposal<\/a> for <strong><em>6 months, from March to August 2018, inclusive.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This article is a graphical summary of the various amounts allocated to the ministries. These graphs are made from the numbers given in the Budget Proposal document that was sent to you today.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\">\n<p><img data-image-id=\"1*9wrP8DeaU-ulP5QECda-9g.png\" data-width=\"564\" data-height=\"353\" src=\"http:\/\/edict.ashoka.edu.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/7fece-19wrP8DeaU-ulP5QECda-9g.png\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Distribution of the budget, ministry-wise<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Above is the pie-chart distribution of the budget to give you an idea of which ministry is getting how much of the \u201cpie\u201d. If you find it difficult to match the colour on the chart with the key, start with Cultural Ministry (the biggest share), and move clockwise as you move down the key.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a more detailed representation of the information, with the amounts allocated (in Rupees):<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-caption\">\n<p><img data-image-id=\"1*GvXA7H3MF_iMfuukq3IwDQ.jpeg\" data-width=\"565\" data-height=\"355\" src=\"http:\/\/edict.ashoka.edu.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/fa5ef-1GvXA7H3MF_iMfuukq3IwDQ.jpeg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Budget amount allocation, ministry-wise<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Now let us delve a little deeper and see what each ministry proposes to do with its pocket-money:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Cultural Ministry<\/em><\/strong><br \/>Arnav Mohan Gupta\u2019s ministry has the highest share of HoR\u2019s budget for the next few months, with Rs. 25,000, which it has proposed to spend like:<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-image-id=\"1*cYl9iOCsKPdtqx8AcyPZxw.png\" data-width=\"564\" data-height=\"355\" src=\"http:\/\/edict.ashoka.edu.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/cf4cb-1cYl9iOCsKPdtqx8AcyPZxw.png\"><br \/>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong><em>Campus Life Ministry<\/em><\/strong><em><br \/><\/em>With Rs. 15,000, the Campus Life Ministry under Ritunjay Shekhar has proposed to allocate its budget such:<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-image-id=\"1*yHnzLXjlasn5SziaZbg7lA.png\" data-width=\"568\" data-height=\"367\" src=\"http:\/\/edict.ashoka.edu.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/60f91-1yHnzLXjlasn5SziaZbg7lA.png\"><br \/>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The Summer Events, as mentioned in the Budget Document, are to be held in the Summer Semester.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Sports Ministry<\/em><br \/><\/strong>Under Abdul Mannan Majid, the Sports Ministry has proposed the following distribution of its Rs. 13,000 budget:<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-image-id=\"1*raYlKpTVOizsBC05apVW7A.png\" data-width=\"568\" data-height=\"370\" src=\"http:\/\/edict.ashoka.edu.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/310d5-1raYlKpTVOizsBC05apVW7A.png\"><br \/>\n<\/figure>\n<p>For a more detailed version of this, please refer to the Budget document.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Technology Ministry<br \/><\/em><\/strong>Kanan Gupta\u2019s Technology Ministry, also called The TeX Ministry, has been given a purse of Rs. 10,000 which it has planned to spend such:<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-image-id=\"1*2Dys0lw8eNKf_SzAO3lDBQ.png\" data-width=\"570\" data-height=\"373\" src=\"http:\/\/edict.ashoka.edu.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/c9211-12Dys0lw8eNKf_SzAO3lDBQ.png\"><br \/>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Development Pipeline is a Ministry project for implementing student projects. For more information, refer to the detailed Budget Proposal.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Environmental Affairs Ministry<\/em><\/strong><br \/>Adit Bhardwaj, the Environmental Affairs Minister, has proposed the following use of the ministry\u2019s Rs. 5,000:<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-image-id=\"1*tE2HwgpgtmufpzzdvLcW9g.png\" data-width=\"569\" data-height=\"376\" src=\"http:\/\/edict.ashoka.edu.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/991a1-1tE2HwgpgtmufpzzdvLcW9g.png\"><br \/>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong><em>Finance Ministry<\/em><\/strong><br \/>Akila Ranganathan\u2019s ministry has a budget of Rs. 1,000 which has the following proposed distribution:<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-image-id=\"1*sNd7KgbNSLfra4tTEPx7pg.png\" data-width=\"569\" data-height=\"375\" src=\"http:\/\/edict.ashoka.edu.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/a71f4-1sNd7KgbNSLfra4tTEPx7pg.png\"><br \/>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong><em>Academic Affairs Ministry<\/em><\/strong><br \/>Gahena Gambani, Academic Affairs Minister, has planned to allocate her ministry\u2019s budget of Rs. 500 such:<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-image-id=\"1*w4kp9T-8ItALCj4HnEtuRA.png\" data-width=\"569\" data-height=\"378\" src=\"http:\/\/edict.ashoka.edu.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/06a5f-1w4kp9T-8ItALCj4HnEtuRA.png\"><br \/>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong><em>Parliamentary Affairs Ministry<\/em><\/strong><br \/>Under Deep Vakil, the Parliamentary Affairs Ministry\u2019s Rs. 500 budget has been planned to be allocated such:<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-image-id=\"1*a4NQEqtz4sIHx_7gcpFdKg.png\" data-width=\"569\" data-height=\"378\" src=\"http:\/\/edict.ashoka.edu.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/282f4-1a4NQEqtz4sIHx_7gcpFdKg.png\"><br \/>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In addition to these allocations, the HoR has proposed to keep aside Rs. 5,000 as \u201cHouse Reserve\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>For further details on any of these allocations by the ministries, please refer to the Budget Proposal <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=1Y52yacWkHf1ji21GT1IYqDDJIO9psGFR\" data-href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=1Y52yacWkHf1ji21GT1IYqDDJIO9psGFR\" target=\"_blank\">document<\/a>. If you don\u2019t find an answer there, the HoR is holding a meeting <strong>today, 27th March 2018,<\/strong> for all students to come and ask questions to the ministers about how they have allocated money from the respective budgets of their ministries, and suggest any changes.<\/p>\n<p>Attending this meeting is important for everyone, and specially for those who have questions regarding the budget, because:<\/p>\n<p>1. This is the first-ever budget of a Student Government, and it is in our hands to ensure that it is used judiciously<\/p>\n<p>2.
